Slane History and Archaeology Society Talk, Heritage Week 2019
Based on his research into the Conyngham Papers in the National Library of Ireland, Eddie Fleming, our Chairperson will give a talk and presentation on the properties and tenants of the Castle in various townlands around Slane in the period 1800-1830.
Using his database of names, properties, lists of tenants, the Tithe Applotment List and historic maps, Eddie will present an interesting vignette of life in the period, including the visit of King George IV to the Castle.
This informative talk will take place in the Conyngham Arms Hotel, Slane on Sunday,25th August, at 3pm.
It should be of great interest to all those in Slane who have an interest in finding out more about their ancestors at this time in the history of the village.
