
On Saturday morning May 9th 2015, Slane History & Archaeology Society will visit historic Collon House home of John “Speaker” Foster, which was built in 1740 and sumptuously restored and furnished with period furniture, antiques,and paintings. After a conducted tour of the house, there will be a break when tea, coffee and cake will be served. Afterwards participants will visit the nearby Church of Ireland.
After lunch [at each person’s own expense] in Monasterboice Inn, the group will drive to the Irish Military War Museum in Starinagh where a conducted tour around Ireland’s most extensive collection of WW1 and WW11 vehicles, weapons, uniforms and memorabilia will take place.
The cost of the two tours will be €20 per person.
It is envisaged to share transport when the group meets at 10am in the Church carpark in Chapel St., Slane.
